A Black Rest Experience

  • Yoga Heights 905 U St NW Washington, DC 20001 (map)

Please just us for A Black Rest Experience.

Rest is not a reward, it is your birthright. So many of us have been guilted by a dominant white supremacist, patriarchal, and capitalist society into believing that rest is something you earn. Did you know, according to the The American Institute of Stress:

  • About 33 percent of people report feeling extreme stress

  • 77 percent of people experience stress that affects their physical health

  • 73 percent of people have stress that impacts their mental health

  • 48 percent of people have trouble sleeping because of stress

Unfortunately, levels of stress are getting worse instead of better for about 50% of all Americans.

The Global Organization for Stress reports that:

  • 75 percent of Americans experienced moderate to high stress levels in the past month

  • Stress is the number one health concern of high school students

  • 80 percent of people feel stress at work

People who tend to experience particularly high rates of stress include:

  • Racial and Ethnic minorities

  • Women

  • Single parents

  • People responsible for their family’s health care decisions

This workshop will help you reframe and embody the belief that your body, mind, and spirit deserve to rest at all times. Sam, Casey, and I intend to guide you to a deeper connection with rest through Slow Flow, Yin Yoga, Restorative Aerial yoga, and Yoga Nidra (a restful, guided meditation) with mindful sharing.
